By Sharla SikesIt seems that any electronic device today can be used to make phone calls—even if it’s not the most efficient method available. All you really need is WiFi, a microphone and speaker, right?
The Nintendo DS can be used to make VoIP calls, by way of a “homebrew” application SvSIP. Based on SIP protocol, the SvSIP application is described as “a little tricky.”
The DS, a nifty little gadget with all sorts of capabilities, catapulted Nintendo briefly past Sony.
The application, created by GBAtemp.net forum member samuelv, is not exactly easy to install. I’ll let Russell Shaw at ZDNet.com explain it for me since he does such a good job.
I’m not sure if it’s really worthwhile, but it might be fun for those who like to tinker.
