A new worldwide VoIP service hit the market when ABACash.com announced its VoIP offering. ABACash’s focus is on the North American and European markets. The prepaid service requires no special equipment, only a PC or mobile phone. ABACash touts its service as being user-friendly for those who aren’t tech savvy.
Customers pay by the second for their phone calls, making it “extremely useful for families, communities, and small to medium-sized companies,” according to the company’s press release. Users can set up ABACash’s VoIP service with multiple accounts, overseen by a “master” account, and buy credits in amounts of $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200.
ABACash claims its structure makes it great for businesses or families who can set up accounts for each family member or employee. Maybe it is a great answer for some … but with so many plans featuring a flat monthly or yearly fee, they won’t convert everyone to the prepaid plan. The advantages of ABACash’s VoIP service is the simple nature of its billing: Customers pay only for calls, without setup or monthly fees.
Call rates are updated at the beginning of each month, and while ABACash guarantees the rate will last the entire month, it may change next month. Customers can access an online record of their calling and transaction history. Calls to other ABACash users are free.
The service works through a PC or smartphone, and requires a small application to be downloaded. ABACash hopes to attract 1,000 customers in its first month of business, with future growth following the same curve.
It will be interesting to see how this type of service appeals to VoIP customers. It certainly is attractive for its international calling rates and ease of use, but for those seeking an all-in-one communications solution, ABACash’s VoIP service may yet be a bit too limited.
