Secure Networks builder Enterasys announced that, in a quest to expand its market presence, it has worked with ShoreTel to complete the Technology Partner Program.
Under the terms of the program, ShoreTel, a unified communications provider, will provide partners with access to its channel partners and customers.
Enterasys has said it is seeking “deeper partnerships” with VoIP vendors.
The partnership will allow Entrasys’ security switches to find unlicensed used of ShoreTel’s VoIP system, and prevent security risks or call interruptions. The partnership will also make it easier for both companies to comply with Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act and E911 regulations in the United States.
ComputerWorld breaks it down to this simple agreement:
“Specifically, Enterasys switches are now able to automatically discover, classify and prioritize ShoreTel unified communications systems and traffic. Security, priority and bandwidth control is provided for every user, device and application, Enterasys says.”
Enterasys created a specific set of policies for ShoreTel to restrict network traffic to VoIP servers based on its type and the amount, which will help cut down on communication theft and call interruption.
Enterasys is the first company to complete ShoreTel’s partner program.
“ShoreTel and Enterasys have proven themselves in our operations,” said Bob Glaze, Chief Technology Officer for the City of Oakland, California. “We have found them to be one of the best and simplest choices to use for unified communications.”
Security is one of the overriding concerns for communications networks, making partnerships between companies like ShoreTel’s beneficial for both.
“As we celebrate our 25th anniversary in the networking industry, we’re proud to be a ShoreTel Certified Technology Partner,” said Mike Fabiaschi, Enterasys President & CEO. “Enterasys has developed a comprehensive approach to discover, classify, prioritize and secure the industry-leading unified communications solutions from ShoreTel.”
“With Enterasys, our customers will now have a tightly integrated security solution,” said Mark Arman, ShoreTel VP of Business Development. “Networking and security are clearly converging to proactively protect unified voice, video and data communications.”
