This month, Panasonic joins the phone manufacturers offering VoIP-ready equipment. Partnering with Amazon.com for the release, Panasonic’s new Globarange will be ready to ship by the end of the month.
The Globarange features a two-line connection, offering users the choice of calling via a traditional land line or using joip www.joip.com VoIP. The phone is available for preorder on Amazon and two models are available—one includes a digital answering system.

With Globarange and joip, users can call other Globarange users around the world for free.
Market research has shown customers want flexibility and options. Clear Horizons, a market research firm based in Princeton, N.J., that specializes in the consumer technology industry, those features as well as cost savings are on the top of consumer’s lists.
“GLOBARANGE is unique in that it is a highly innovative product from a technology standpoint - as it bundles three call methods into a single device, but to the consumer, quite simply -GLOBARANGE is an easy-to-use phone that makes calling affordable,” said Andy Cross, President and CEO of Clear Horizons. “Our research indicates that GLOBARANGE is appealing because it provides consumers freedom and flexibility to make calls ‘their way’ whether peer-to-peer with other GLOBARANGE users, through a traditional landline or via the Internet.”
Joip offers a “premium service” that allows customers to retain their existing phone number and 911 services. The service does not require any software downloads, and setup is fairly quick and simple, requiring only a broadband connection.
