JDSU has introduced its new upgrades to NetComplete, a service solution system portfolio, and new features for the software component for VoIP.
The software, called PVA-1000, specializes in VoIP analysis using remote software capture agents. JDSU’s updates include additions to address network operator demand for accurate measurements and performance monitoring for quality assurance on IPTV and VOIP as well as other quad-play service delivery.
The new features include “support for single and multi-channel program transport streams, measuring and calculating key quality indicators; and continuous passive performance monitoring, including the correlation and aggregation of quality metrics providing an end-to-end view across the service delivery chain.”
The NetComplete system has earned JDSU the International Engineering Consortium’s 2006 InfoVision Award for quality of service and quality of experience in voice, video and data services in Ethernet, wireless and broadband environments. NetComplete has also established popularity and prestige in industry forums and among service providers
“JDSU is a trusted service assurance source for large-scale deployments of IPTV, VoIP and other advanced services,” said John Govert, director of marketing for JDSU’s Service Assurance Solutions business unit. “These new features allow service providers to comprehensively test and monitor quad-play services using a single platform - whether its metro Ethernet, IPTV, voice or wireless services - giving exceptional visibility into the complex network and service lifecycle.”
The monitoring tools are particularly useful in monitoring VoIP calls and can track jitter, packet loss and audio playback, and two of the new features help to strengthen NetComplete’s ability to test VoIP service and monitor multiple calls. The new features also help NetComplete generate individual packet capture files for calls falling below a certain threshold of call quality, and perform signaling trace, audio playback and full decodes of signaling and media packets.
