The “big names†in technology have been increasingly jumping on board the VoIP bandwagon, and Sony’s European division has recently joined the movement too.
Sony has trotted out a new line of VoIP headsets with hands-free capability. The headsets are designed to feature a high-enough quality audio speaker (Which Sony calls its Sony Acoustic Twin Turbo Circuits) to be used for music and games as well, with a flexible microphone and Silent Cap Design noise-cancelling technology, to reduce “sound leakage.â€
Prices range from £29.99 to £44.99. The top-of-the-line model, the DR-EX230DP, has in-ear silicon headphones in three sizes and an in-line microphone, and will include a traveling case. The DR-G250DP is a collapsible model which is ideal for travel use and will cost around £39.99.Â
Sony Europe will also offer a hands-free stereo headset with a detachable USB microphone and volume control. The headsets will also be available in different colors.
Sony’s new headsets come on the heels of it building VoIP technology into its game consoles, beginning with the Playstation 2 in 2004 and more recently the PSP.
