Verizon plans to lure in more business customers with new features beginning next month.
The new features, designed to “increase functionality and add choice,” include Foreign Telephone Number Assignment, or the option to assign a U.S. phone number outside the local calling area. This would allow a customer to choose a phone number in an area he or she is placing a large number of calls, avoiding long distance charges.
Verizon Business offers other features to wholesale customers like the ability to customize services for their subscribers by choosing among available options like E911, metered or unmetered pricing, discretionary call blocking, seasonal pricing and increased fraud tracking and recovery.
“Since we successfully launched our wholesale VoIP product suite two years ago, we have continued to seek — and find — effective ways to fulfill the needs of our customers,” said Jim Tyrrell, vice president of voice product management for Verizon. “Performance, reliability and a competitive cost structure are table stakes in this market. Our intent is to reach beyond those basics to offer an exceptional product with superior features.”
Verizon also announced what it calls an Integrated Communications Package for the management of communications to improve collaboration and mobility.
Verizon has also been working to steamline its billing process. The communications giant has provided analytic reporting tools and reduced billing applications as well as centralizing and archiving its billing data.
“The system consolidation and enhancements dramatically strengthen the billing landscape for our customers,” said Dave Landry, executive director of billing systems for Verizon Business. “They’ll have quicker access to billing information along with reduced processes while keeping track of invoices more efficiently — all without losing the sophistication and capabilities needed by our large-business and government customers.”
What it means to customers is that they will see one billing platform for nearly all their accounts.
