VoIP services are growing more quickly than many would have predicted. With service providers cropping up everywhere, one longtime VoIP provider has stepped up to offer a guide for new providers or those looking to enter the industry.
ISPhone, Inc., released its second edition of “The VoIP Business Opportunity: An Introduction for Service Providers.” The white paper, available by request, examines business strategies and opportunities for those planning to provide VoIP service.
Are the waters murky enough to need navigation? Well, I’m not totally sure, but it certainly can’t hurt, and having a helpful little resource like this available gives companies or businesspeople the option to check it out.
The first edition of the white paper came out in 1999. VoIP was growing exponentially at the time, like most new services.
“Since we published the first edition, the VoIP industry has grown enormously,” said Victor von Schlegell, ISPhone’s president. “It has also become more competitive, and new models of service delivery have evolved.”
The new edition examines those new models from a business perspective. Von Schlegell cites 10 years of experience that help give the new edition an even more comprehensive look at the industry. He says existing VoIP providers might also benefit from a look at it, just in case there are some new trends worthy of note.
Some of the paper’s topics include evolution of IP communications; overview of VoIP; options for offering VoIP services; asterisk open-source PBX; business planning for VoIP resellers; implementing VoIP services and building an IP network. ISPhone, Inc. claims the paper is “relevant to any individual or organization interested in the VoIP industry.”
Sure, it’s a selling tool for ISPhone’s networks. But it might be worth a look-see to new entries into the market, regardless of what they decide to offer when it comes to services; in an industry that changes as rapidly as this one, any resource is a boon.
